Human Progress

One general commented that we are “technological giants but ethical infants.” Our pride, passions, rage are unchanged since the time of Homer. Some progress has been made. We no longer burn old women at the stake. Occasionally we go to war over human rights violation if there is a bit of oil or uranium on the table. Other than that we are the same but we are conscious of our depravity and we discuss it artfully in with a kind of postmodern recursive introversion that renders our mundane predictability less boring; a narrative which sometimes passes for art with redeeming social messages.
