We Paint Our Flag With the Blood of War

I should think the mere fact that divorce is legal would suffice since divorce is the only thing that Jesus explicitly condemns (except for reason of adultery but then Jesus never says that it is OK to remarry.)

It strikes me as strange that the Roman Catholic Church would say that it is not a sin to have a same gender orientation as long as one does not practice, in the face of Jesus statements that “he who lusts in his heart has already committed adultery” and the same would go for abortion and murder IF it is the case that one is guilty simply by virtue of the imaginings of the heart (and we know from the Old Testament that the wickedness of the imagination knows no bounds.)

Peter: isn’t the doctrine that we are sinners, period? no matter what we do? or was that just my grandma’s interpretation?

Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?

Just playing Russian roulette with verses… I am more of a Hindu/Buddhist than a Christian. But it is fun to look for inherent weaknesses and contradictions.

So, if we are all saved and forgiven because we have accepted our personal Saviour then what possible harm can there be in same-sex civil unions or stem-cell research…. especially since war is the most horrific form of murder and we praise it as patriotic (and paint our flag with the blood of war.)
