On the Nature of Prayer

If God does not exist then prayers are of no avail (except possibly for self-empowerment) and if God DOES exist and is omnipresent and omniscient (and the only knower of hearts) then every thought is a prayer in the sense that God understands it, and hence explicit prayer uttered aloud with some posture or gesture is superfluous. Furthermore, it is said we shall be “judged by every word which proceeds from our mouth” yet “the wickedness of the imagination has no bounds.” N’est pas?
